The Alabama State Memorial was dedicated in 1951 and rests on a base of the same Georgia granite of which the Memorial Arch is built. Interestingly, all the soldiers depicted in the casting have ropes tied around their pants legs at the ankle: presumably to keep some kind of vermin out. |
